Edith Maude Eaton

　　Edith Maude Eaton (1865-1914), also known by her pen name Sui Sin Far, was a British-born author who wrote about the experiences of Chinese immigrants in North America. She was born in Birmingham, England, to an English father and a Chinese mother. She immigrated to Canada with her family when she was a child, and later moved to the United States.

　　Eaton was one of the first writers to bring attention to the experiences of Chinese immigrants in North America, and her work offers a unique perspective on the struggles and challenges faced by this community. She wrote about the difficulties faced by Chinese immigrants in a society that was often hostile and discriminatory towards them, and her work sought to humanize and give voice to this marginalized community.

　　Eaton's most well-known works include the short story collections Mrs. Spring Fragrance and The Highbinder, as well as the novel Mrs. Perkins' Ball. She also wrote a number of essays and articles on a wide range of subjects, including race, gender, and social justice. Eaton died in 1914 at the age of 49.
