Dorothy Sayers

　　Dorothy Leigh Sayers (1893 - 1957) is best known as an English crime writer, particularly for creating the character, Lord Peter Wimsey. She was one of the first women to receive a degree at Oxford, Somerville College, graduating with honors in 1915 and earning her Masters degree in 1920. Her experiences at Oxford, and her work as a copywriter for the advertising firm, S.H. Benson, inspired many of her stories and poems. She is credited with coining the slogan: "It pays to advertise!"

　　Whose Body? is Sayers' first novel where she introduces Lord Peter Wimsey in his first case. This well-known crime fiction entered the public domain on Jan. 1, 2019.
